Red Nichols was one of the most influential jazz bandleaders of the first half of the 20th Century. It was though the series of recordings he made between 1925 and 1930, 25 of which are featured here, that consolidated his reputation as a innovative leader and as a conduit for the emergence of many of the great players who would rise to fame during the Swing era.
