The two pieces on this CD are two of the great works of early Romanticism composed for the piano, yet utterly contrasting in  style. Kreisleriana is wild and eccentric - much influenced by the literary anarchy of ETA Hoffmann. Schubert's D960 on the other hand is the composer's final work for piano, a piece of enormous breadth and wisdom.
