The 84-page book includes numerous texts by and about Weize, a discography, and a wealth of archive photographs. Born in Bad Gandersheim, Lower Saxony, in 1945, Richard Weize developed a passion for the music of the early 1950s as a teenager. He was particularly fascinated by American country, rock 'n' roll and jazz, and began collecting records with extraordinary dedication and enthusiasm. In 1975, he founded the now-iconic Bear Family Records label in Bremen. Since his departure from the label, he has gone on to establish And More Bears and Richard Weize Archives (RWA). Through his reissues and new releases, particularly of music from the 1950s through the 1970s, Weize has earned a reputation both nationally and internationally. His many accolades include 13 Grammy nominations, the German Order of Merit, an ECHO Award and numerous US awards. His passionate and scholarly approach to reissues and anthologies - combining music, text and imagery with exceptional attention to detail - remains unrivalled in both quality and aesthetic standards. Simply legendary.
