The tracks range from 1937 to 1952 and Nighthawk is accompanied by such blues luminaries as Sonny Boy Williamson, Joe Williams and Roosevelt Sykes.
Robert Nighthawk left home at an early age to become a busking musician. For a while, he travelled through southern Mississippi before eventually settling for Memphis, Tennessee. During this period, a particular influence on his playing was Houston Stackhouse. He learnt slide guitar with him and they frequently performed on the radio together.
