The story of Rosanna & Zélia is the story of a journey, beginning in Minas Gerais (Brazil) and leading via Portugal and Finland to Germany. There in 1993 they made their first live recording and started to develop a song style of their own. Far from their homeland they began to see Brazilian music from a new point of view and soon explored the Afro-Brazilian and Indian roots of this music. They not only took elements from all kinds of Brazilian music - from the Musica Popular Brasileira, from rhythms and folklore of different Brazilian regions, from the music of the native Brazilian people and also from jazz and pop music -, they also added sounds from many other parts of the world to enrich their artistic language. Guest musicians with totally different musical backgrounds delivered even more musical influences: e.g. bandoneon player Dino Saluzzi from Argentina, American harmonica player Howard Levy, clarinet virtuoso Claudio Puntin and Katharina Franck (Rainbirds). The result is a magical trip of the soul with a global tinge: sparsely arranged songs that vibrate with melodicism, feeling and relaxation.
