Description
Russian Epic Metallers Scald return with a new EP!
Relics marks a powerful new chapter for Russian epic metal legends Scald, reviving long-lost compositions from the band's formative years while introducing vocalist Hrafn, whose commanding performance honors the legacy of the late Agyl. Originally written between the completion of the landmark album Will Of The Gods Is Great Power and Agyl's passing in 1997, these songs document an important transitional period in the band's evolution, as Scald experimented beyond traditional epic doom while preserving the unmistakable atmosphere that defined their sound.
The EP features the long-awaited studio recordings of 'Master Of Tundra,' 'Ravens,' and 'Flame,' compositions that had only been performed live despite years of requests from fans around the world. Drawing inspiration from Norwegian Sámi artist Mari Boine, progressive metal pioneers Fates Warning and Dream Theater, and Sanctuary's Into The Mirror Black, the material expands Scald's musical palette while remaining deeply rooted in epic metal tradition.
The release also pays tribute to Agyl with two versions of 'Falcon,' a song originally written for his pre-Scald band Ross during 1991-1992. Presented in both English and the original Russian as 'Sokol,' these recordings celebrate the enduring legacy of one of epic metal's most revered voices. Relics stands as both a historical document and a triumphant new beginning for Scald.
