Songs for the early days of a better nation.
There is a wide variety of song-writing styles within the 18 songs and the song-writers are from various musical genres and the list even includes a âpunkâ band. Many of the songs we believe are sure to find their way into Scotlandâs song tradition in the future. In most instances the song-writers recorded their own songs but in a couple of instances the writers invited singer friends to interpret their work. The singer/song-writers are Yvonne Lyon, Fiona J. Mackenzie, Gill Bowman, Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis, Brian McNeill, Ian McCalman, Simon Kempston, Scott Murray, Findlay Napier, Duncan McCrone and Cy Jack, Iain MacDonald, Charlie Milne, Chris Finegan, Frank Rae, Colin Donati and Martin Watkins, with his band The Tolerated. An Alistair Findlay entry was recorded by Findlay Napier and a song by David Lyon was interpreted by his wife Yvonne. We hope you agree this is a unique collection of songs by some of our best song-writers.
