This 7' vinyl single by the Sensorium Saxophone Orchestra delivers two radical acoustic reimaginings of two seminal Beatles compositions. Founded in 2008 by Ben Miller (former member of proto-punk legends Destroy All Monsters and long-time guitarist for the Glenn Branca Ensemble) the Sensorium Saxophone Orchestra transforms studio-crafted psych-pop into dense, breathing works of modern chamber music. Rather than relying on tape loops or electronic processing, Miller harnesses microtonal friction and pure physical acoustics to construct a massive, spectral wall of sound. The recording features an expansive acoustic setup of five saxophones and two percussionists and bass guitar. The session lineup brings together Ben Miller (arrangements), Laurence Miller, Benjamin C. Miller, David Swain, Kristin Olson, Kevin Gosa and Josh Sinton. Stripping away traditional studio trickery, the arrangements are anchored by the smoky, avant-pop vocals of Marianne Nowottny, whose melodic delivery carves through deep sax sonorities to reveal hidden psychological depths within the songs. This release stands serves as both an essential entry in Miller's expansive catalog (ranging from Destroy All Monsters to M3 with brothers Laurence and Roger Miller of Mission of Burma) and a thrilling bridge between 1960s pop experimentation and contemporary avant-garde acoustics.
