There are very few younger musicians who have bridged jazz genres as well as the Norwegian-born drummer, composer and bandleader Snorre Kirk.
Beat contains eight of Snorre's own tracks plus one, 'Zanzibar', from bassist Juan Tozol of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. For this session Snorre brought together some of the toughest, finest Scandinavian musicians - Jan Harbeck (tenor sax); Klas Lindquist (alto sax, clarinet); Tobias Wiklund (cornet); Magnus Hjorth (piano); Lasse Morck (double bass) - and the result is music with soul that swings and is quintessentially cool.
