Description
New album by avantgarde collective Sorry for Laughing, this time consisting mainly of Gordon Whitlow of Biota and Dave-id Busaras of Virgin Prunes
Everyman is the latest work from avant-garde collective Sorry For Laughing, led by Gordon H. Whitlow of the legendary experimental ensemble Biota and joined by Dave-id Busaras of Virgin Prunes as a principal collaborator. Expanding upon a project originally introduced in the mid-1980s, the album blends modern classical composition, experimental sound design, industrial textures, free improvisation, songwriting, and musique concrète into a deeply personal and emotionally resonant listening experience. Atmospheric, abrasive, and often unexpectedly beautiful, the music explores themes of mortality, love, hope, and the search for inner peace.
Originally conceived as a solo outlet during Whitlow's early years with Biota, Sorry For Laughing has evolved into a collaborative project featuring an impressive lineup that includes Edward Ka-Spel and Patrick Q. Wright of Legendary Pink Dots, Martyn Bates and Elizabeth S. of Eyeless in Gaza, Janet Feder, and Dave-id Busaras. Whitlow describes Everyman as an existential opera in which its central character is carried through forces beyond personal control, unfolding as a deeply human story filled with both despair and optimism.
Released by Klanggalerie, Everyman continues the distinctive artistic vision of Sorry For Laughing while embracing a more fragmented and introspective approach than previous recordings. The result is an immersive avant-garde work that rewards careful listening through its richly layered sound world and emotional depth.
