Description
Screen legends Ann Sothern and Dorothy Lamour were two of the most popular singing actress/comediennes in the history of movies and both enjoyed careers that spanned six decades from the 30's to the 80's. Though their paths never crossed in a major way, coincidentally both released successful LPs in 1957, from which this new Sepia collection is derived.
In between the popular 'Maisie' films, Ann Sothern starred in other films including 'Lady Be Good' and 'The Last Time I Saw Paris' which won that year's Oscar for Best Song.
Dorothy Lamour is best-remembered for the 'Road to' films with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. She appeared in a succession of dramas, comedies, musicals and, of course, South Sea island adventures in her trademark sarong and became one of the few movie stars to be equally popular on records.
We are delighted to release this collection of songs by Ann Sothern and Dorothy Lamour, two former glamour girls who through sheer talent and hard work held on to their stardom for most of the past century. These recordings, as well as their movies, will continue to win them new fans for years to come.
