The concept of Southern Bred Tennessee and Arkansas allows the sourcing of a variety of wide-ranging black music chosen by the theme of birth to be collected onto the albums. The series like its predecessors are made by people who are active on the music scene, for people who enjoy the excellence of sound and quality of music.
Trouble Trouble, Southern Bred Tennessee and Arkansas Koko Mojo (KM-CD-88) is the second look at the birth heritage of the state of Tennessee and Arkansas which is consolidated into the anthology due to it being referred to as West Memphis.
The Blues artists with rural intonations are; Elmon Mickle and Johnny Shines whose style is diverse to that of new breed Bluesmen Frank Frost. The bandleaders of differing approaches are; trumpeter and vocalist Tiny 'I was wild, loud and fat' Davis, the legendary pianist and vocalist Memphis Slim, and rounding off the band leader input is saxophonist Paul Williams who will return to the series with different vocalists fronting his band.
The legends who were dubbed the Beale Streeters are; Earl Forest, Johnny Ace, Roscoe Gordon, and Bobby ''Blue'' Bland, whom individually have their own identifiable sound. The new Rhythm & Blues, and Rock 'n' Rollers bursting onto the scene were; Gene Allison, Larry Birdsong, and O'Henry, and their presence adds variety of Southern Bred sound.
Our Southern Bred albums have; sleeve notes which are written by series compiler Mark Armstrong, stunning design from design artist Michael van Merwyk, and twenty-eight songs, remastered at Black Shack Studios by our sound expert Heiko Schultz. The disc is housed in an attractively designed cardboard sleeve, specially designed to avoid the use of plastic and be environmentally friendly.
