Description
Amazon is the third chapter of our river collection, taking you on a journey through South American traditional music
After the Nile and Mississippi, it is now the turn of the world's largest river - and perhaps the most important - to be honored: the Amazon. Its powerful flow, its raging waves and its impetuous current are in the image of the peoples living on its shores; and even more so of the music that rhythms them: raw, authentic, majestic.
Whether from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela or Bolivia, this ''Amazonian'' music is unique in its territorial particularities. It is like the river: it is whole, it is powerful, even sometimes indomitable.
The emphasis is on tradition, the elements, the mystic. Korimbo, tumag and other typical instruments captivate; voices, songs and growls bewitch. It is a true song of the soul: the human one as well as the animal and vegetable ones. It is sometimes even a cry: a cry against the repeated assaults that these territories have undergone, from the Spanish conquest to unbridled and merciless globalization. And in the face of this adversity, these peoples have managed to preserve their culture, developing specific and unique artistic forms, the translation of an imaginary world and a tradition of infinite richness.
