New studio album by Thee Headcoatees!

Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy marks a new studio album from Thee Headcoatees, the celebrated British garage-rock group whose combination of primitive rock & roll, rhythm & blues and girl-group attitude made them an essential part of the Medway scene. Released by Damaged Goods, the album brings the group back to the raw musical territory that established its reputation while adding a new chapter to a history stretching back to the early 1990s.

Thee Headcoatees developed as the female counterpart to Billy Childish's Thee Headcoats, with Ludella Black, Holly Golightly, Kyra LaRubia and Bongo Debbie becoming a formidable group in their own right. Initially associated closely with Childish's songs and productions, they quickly established individual personalities through tough vocals, stripped-down instrumentation and a sound that drew equally from 1960s garage punk, rhythm & blues and the irreverence of early rock & roll.

Across a prolific run of recordings, Thee Headcoatees became cult favorites far beyond their Kent origins. Their deliberately rough production, concise songs and confrontational performances placed them squarely within the international garage revival while retaining the unmistakable do-it-yourself character of the Medway scene. The individual members also developed substantial musical histories outside the group, most notably Holly Golightly and Ludella Black through their subsequent solo work.

Ev'rybody's Gonna Be Happy reconnects Thee Headcoatees with the independent garage-rock tradition they helped define. Direct, unpolished and rooted in the elemental pleasures of rhythm & blues and rock & roll, the album demonstrates the enduring appeal of a group whose influence has continued long after its original run.
