New album by Thee Headcoats!

Children of the Sect is a new studio album from Thee Headcoats, the British garage-rock institution founded by Billy Childish and one of the defining groups to emerge from the Medway scene. Released by Damaged Goods, the album continues a musical history built around stripped-down rock & roll, primitive rhythm & blues, punk economy and the deliberately unvarnished recording aesthetic that has characterized Childish's work for decades.

Thee Headcoats originally formed in 1989 following Childish's earlier work with Thee Milkshakes and quickly became one of his most prolific and enduring groups. Their records rejected contemporary studio polish in favor of distorted guitars, pounding rhythms, concise songwriting and performances that drew direct inspiration from 1960s garage bands, early rhythm & blues and the rawest edges of rock & roll.

That approach has made Thee Headcoats an important reference point within international garage rock. Their extensive catalog and uncompromising do-it-yourself philosophy helped connect the Medway sound with successive generations of garage-punk musicians, while Childish's songwriting has remained grounded in directness, repetition, humor and the elemental possibilities of guitar, bass and drums.

With Children of the Sect, Thee Headcoats add another chapter to that deliberately independent history. Rather than treating garage rock as a nostalgic exercise, the band continues to work within its fundamental vocabulary--raw guitars, direct rhythms and concise songs--maintaining the singular identity that has kept Thee Headcoats distinctive for decades.
