THOKKIAN VORTEX is the black metal project of Lord Kaiaphas, best known as the singer of Norwegian black metal legends ANCIENT.

THOKKIAN VORTEX clearly shows influences from the second wave Nordic black metal bands such as Mayhem, Darkthrone, Emperor, Immortal, Limbonic Art, and Dark Funeral, combining these in an elaborate manner with elements from symphonic/classical music, progressive metal, traditional metal, black 'n' roll, and dark ambient. With the dark, fragile beauty of a song like 'Crystalline Dawn,' 'Lucifer Lucem Proferens' is also likely to fascinate fans of My Dying Bride.
Essentially, however, Lord Kaiaphas and his companions have succeeded in creating a highly independent, original and memorable work with THOKKIAN VORTEX's third album, whose multifaceted songs evoke a dark journey into the unknown.

Lord Kaiaphas wants the meaning of the project's name to be understood as a crack, a wormhole through which a person's astral body is sucked into a parallel dimension of unknown darkness.

THOKKIAN VORTEX was founded in 6/6/06 by Lord Kaiaphas. The debut album, 'Into the Nagual,' was released in late January 2016 by the Swedish label Unexploded Records. The second album, 'Thy Throne is Mine,' was released in 2020 via the Dutch label Non Serviam Records. The third album, 'Lucifer Lucem Proferens,' will be released on 27.11.2025 by Folter Records.
