Description

Formed in July of 1999 Throttlerod split the first year between constant touring and recording their debut album Eastbound And Down for Underdogma Records which was released in 2000. Since then a lot has happened. Arelocation from South Carolina to Virginia, a shuffleboard of sorts to build the perfect rhythm section, they've played the perpetual tour game (complete with broken down vans and week long stretches between showers) and they even found themselves a new home at Small Stone in winter of 2002 (just in time to make the cut for the first sucking the 70's compilation). 2003 saw the release of Hell and High Water to both critical and fan acclaim
while 2004 found the band in a more experimental mood releasing the stripped down EP Starve the Dead to mixed reviews. 2006's Nail found Whitehead and Co. back on the path releasing their most cohesive and well thought out collection of tracks..... until now.

Pig Charmer picks up the gauntlet thrown down by Nail. Tethered by Schneider's elastic bass playing and anchored by White's steady and powerful drumming this is the perfect vehicle for Whitehead's angular yet soulful songwriting. Borrowing from the same
bag of tricks that made Am-Rep famous Pig Charmer adds a southern charm to the metallic and muscular sounds that bubble beneath. Throttlerod will be performing on the East Coast to further hone their newly pared down chops in preparation of a fall tour. If you can't wait that long tune in to MTV's smash hit Nitro Circus which has been showcasing the bands new sound all season long.
