Swedish breakout act thrown: 227M+ Spotify streams, 2x Heavy Music Award winners, new album UNWANTED on the way.

Few bands in modern heavy music have risen as fast -- or hit as hard -- as thrown. Since emerging from Stockholm, Sweden, the four-piece have turned their uncompromising blend of metallic hardcore, crushing grooves and nu-metal intensity into a global phenomenon, with more than 227 million streams on Spotify alone and a worldwide audience that continues to grow. Their 2022 debut EP EXTENDED PAIN put thrown firmly on the map. The EP remained in Spotify's Global Metal Top 200 for almost an entire year and has since accumulated more than 80 million Spotify streams. Songs such as 'grayout,' 'fast forward' and 'parasite' established the blueprint: short, explosive and relentlessly heavy songs built around suffocating riffs and visceral vocals. That momentum exploded with debut album EXCESSIVE GUILT, released in August 2024 via Arising Empire, surpassing 120 million Spotify streams. At the centre sits 'on the verge,' thrown's biggest song to date with almost 60 million streams, while 'guilt' has passed 25 million and 'backfire' approaches 20 million. thrown have taken their music across Europe, North America and Australia, touring alongside Knocked Loose, Fit For A King, Emmure, Counterparts, While She Sleeps and Wage War. That rise was recognised at the Heavy Music Awards, where thrown won Best Breakthrough Live Artist in 2024, followed by Best Breakthrough Album for EXCESSIVE GUILT in 2025. Now entering their next chapter, thrown's forthcoming sophomore album UNWANTED is on the way, with first singles 'split,' 'rehearsed' and 'critic' already accumulating millions of streams. With over 227 million Spotify streams, award-winning releases and a reputation forged on stages around the world, thrown are no longer simply one of heavy music's most promising new bands. They've already arrived.
