Tiger Stripes - Safari (CD)
Release Date: 09/18/07
Debut full-length album from Swedish dance music producer Tiger Stripes.
Illustrious Swedish dance music producer Tiger Stripes (aka D'Malicious, aka 12th Floor) brings his own brand of boogie to the dance floor. Having done at least two EP's for King Street / Nite Grooves, we couldn't help but ask him to grace us all with a debut full-length album. What he turned out was an unparalleled 73-plus minute CD containing a mostly instrumental mixture of dark yet unobtrusive tech, Latin-infused, jazzy riffs, pumping basslines, disco-stringed, pure head-nodding percussion, soulfully melodic tunes. Basically, this nordic dance music kat delivers nothing but pure quality and unadulterated rhythm. A musician from the tender age of 10, Mikael Nordgren, as he's known by friends & family, became well-versed in playing a variety of instruments including Bass, Drums, Guitar & Piano. He was bitten by the House Music bug later in life, developing his skills as he grew, making him one of the dynamic producers in Dance Music today. Six of the eleven dance-lively Nite Grooves tracks have been previously released on vinyl only and are now finally available on cd. The other two, 'Spacious Mind' & 'Pharoah's Cigar' debut on this album. We also hear special collaborations; one being 'Song for Edit' with Kerri Chandler, one of the living legends of Dance Music and the other 'Consecration' featuring Hanna Haîs, European chanteuse extraordinaire whose worked with the likes of DJ Pierre, Sergio Flores, Matthias 'Matty' Heilbronn, and many more. This album is so universally rhythmic it can work on almost ANY dancefloor. Each song embarks the listener in a journey, telling a tale with it's varied subliminal messages, with rigorous synth sounds and incredibly effective drum loops; the least of sounds that clearly shine through on this masterpiece collection of danceable works. It's a ride you won't want to get off. Working alongside his genius contemporaries such as Rasmus Faber (who dons the last track), Marcus Enochson, & SUMO, it's no wonder Swedish producers are surely among the forerunners in contemporary House Music.
