True Life Trio performs riveting vocal harmonies from Eastern Europe, the Americas & beyond. This innovative trio explores the creative possibilities of cross-fertilization of different traditions with unlikely timbres. TLT's features the powerful vocal talents of three dynamic performers, Leslie Bonnett, Briget Boyle and Juliana Graffagna, whose musical collaboration was forged in Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble. This Bay Area-based trio delves deeply into a vast array of folk music that lends itself to three-part vocal harmony, massaging and expanding the boundaries of these traditional styles. The result is a sweet, sonic explosion that melts in the listener's ear and that is uniquely True Life Trio.

Gari Hegedus plays violin, viola and a variety of stringed instruments from Greece and Turkey including laouto, oud, saz, and hand drums. Gari is sought-after for his very personal and heartfelt approach to music. Gari plays in the duo Teslim with violinist Kaila Flexer and performs with world music groups Janam, Eliyahu and the Qadim Ensemble, Stellamara, Persian vocalist Hamed Nikpay, and numerous other Bay Area Balkan ensembles. He is also a luthier and spends many hours making instruments-repairing old sazes and ouds he finds and coaxing out the true voice of these treasures. He has studied with oud master Naseer Shamma and has recorded and performed with Cretan lyra virtuoso Ross Daly. He has toured with the Mevlevi Dervish (Sufi) Order of America and continues to participate in Turkish ceremonial and devotional gatherings around the country.
