Tyler Hornby is one of Alberta's most prolific and active jazz drummers. Tyler has been on numerous tours around North America, South America, and Europe, where his drumming is a popular staple at many jazz festivals, clubs, and concerts. In 2009, Tyler was nominated for the Galaxie Rising Star Award and the General Motors Grand Jazz Award at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. His debut album entitled 'Shadows of a Brighter Day' received rave reviews across the country, and was selected for a National Jazz Compilation Dig Your Roots. Tyler released his second solo project album, 'A Road to Remember' that displays his continuing inspirations.<br><br>'A Road to Remember' explores contemporary jazz at its finest. The music features original compositions inspired by his travels across Canada, the US, and particularly Europe. The album explores the human journey, the ups and downs that we experience â' moments of elation, moments of sorrow and struggles. Audiences can tap into this music on an emotional level while enjoying some of Albertaâs finest jazz. <br><br>Tyler has performed with such artists as; Bob Mintzer, Ingrid Jensen, Wycliffe Gordon, Frank Mantooth, Alain Caron, Randy Brecker, Eric Marienthal, Tom Harrell, Jiggs Whigham, Irvin Mayfield, James Carter, Brad Goode, Chip Stephens, Hugh Fraser, Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Shelly Berg, Ralph Bowen, Maciek Grzywacz, Maciej Sikala, Piotr Lemanczyk, Pat Bianchi, John Gunther, Ken Walker, Phil Dwyer, Mike Murley, David Braid, Joel Miller, Campbell Ryga, and is the drummer for Sillan & Young.<br><br>After completing his Masters in Jazz Performance/Pedagogy in 2006, from the University of Colorado (Boulder), Tyler has served as composer and musical director for several productions. In addition to having a busy performing schedule, Tyler taught for the Mount Royal University Jazz Program and has given workshops and clinics around the world, including Germany, Poland, Italy, Venezuela, and USA.
