GRAMMY FINALIST: The award-winning University of Miami Concert Jazz Band (CJB) has long been recognized as one of the premier ensembles of its type in the world. Under the direction of Whit Sidener, the band has won numerous Best College Big Band and Outstanding Performance Awards from the likes of Downbeat magazine. Here, in addition to a powerful big band program, the CJB presents the world premiere of Maria Schneider's composition - Three Romances - commissioned by the University of Miami for its Concert Jazz Band. The composition, a suite of pieces, will invoke a feeling of movement and dance and has a distinctive romantic quality.
