The stunning new album from vocalist, composer, and bandleader Vanisha Gould. Gould's unique music bridges vulnerability and strength. Vanisha returns to Cellar Music with an album of wonderfully written originals entitled 'What An Interesting Girl'. There are songs about locking eyes with someone across a crowded room and refusing to make the first move. Songs about longing. Songs about fantasy. Songs about freedom. Songs that made her laugh while writing them and songs that revealed something Gould didn't know she was trying to say.
Most of these compositions lived on bandstands long before they made it into the studio. They changed shape over hundreds of performances with pianist Chris McCarthy, bass player Charlie Lincoln and drummer Samuel Bolduc.
They gathered stories and meaning along the way. By the time they were recorded they felt less like songs Gould had written and more like old friends she wanted to introduce to one another.
