With serial number 1000, this album represents one of the gems in the catalogue of Da Vinci Classics. It features legendary Italian pianist Giovanni Bellucci, who performs works for piano and orchestra composed by Ferruccio Busoni, with Italy’s flagship orchestra (the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI) conducted by Daniele Callegari. The recording reproduces Bellucci’s live performances at the Lingotto Auditorium in Turin. The performed works include Busoni’s arrangement of Liszt’s Rhapsodie Espagnole, with the whirling rhythms of the Folies d’Espagne and of the Jota Aragonesa/ the magnificent Concertino BV 292, and the exotic-sounding Indianische Fantasie op. 44, which reproduces Busoni’s impressions of the soundscape of the New World.
