Yulia Berinskaya’s reading of Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin unites virtuosity, structure and inward, poetic depth anew.

This album features what composer Jorge Bosso defines as a “celebration of tradition”, conceived in Shostakovich’s terms: “By building bridges into the future we must take care not to burn the bridges connecting today’s culture to its immortal past”. The main work is a reinterpretation of Bach’s Second Partita for unaccompanied violin, here played by Dora Schwarzberg, and with the participation of a choir singing lyrics from the Minnesänger tradition/ other works pay homage to the Van Gogh brothers (hence the album’s title) and to other masterpieces of literature, music, and the visual arts.
